Putting it Out There
So I'm going to put out there, we had a great time, actually a phenomenal time in Chiang Mai. We wanted to see more of Thailand but instead we stayed in Chiang Mai and we always had lots of friends dropping by plus we made loads of new friends. Unfortunately in order to stay there and keep our dream of continuing to travel alive we maxed out our only credit card. I have regrets about Chiang Mai only not about the credit card more about how I used it. We could have had more fun with it. Well really only two regrets if I'm honest, I wanted a Bamboo Tattoo of Ganesh and we wanted to visit the Elephant Nature Park which is a really good Rescue Centre but we were too busy living frugally.
I think today I've learnt my lesson: Make the most of what you have when you have it.
Now we're no different than so many travellers and buskers who are travelling without money. We elicit donations from shops, businesses and local people to keep our journey alive. We would have never left Thailand without the help of the local people although it is only ever ever enough to keep body and soul together wth an ability to garner bus or train tickets that'll take us few hours up the road like Penang to Ipoh or Kuala Lumpur to Melacca or Singapore maybe. There's never enough to make any leap and we need a leap. Vietnam would be the leap I'm talking about.
We have friends in Hanoi and one in particular, our friend Van, who says she can get us English Teaching for Native Speakers, apparently it pays quite well, but we don't have the funds at the moment and local donations are unlikely to get us there. We'll keep searching but what I'm asking here is for you to think about it for a moment and if you can help with a donation via PayPal, no matter how small it would be greatly appreciated. I'm putting it out there as I said in the title, a small cry for help if you like and in return we'll keep the stories coming. Recently we have some great stories to tell too.
PS If anyone has an old laptop/notebook they'd like to donate let me know as mine may be on it's last legs.
